Teaching engineers
I taught at Stevens Institute of Technology as an adjunct professor from 2011 to 2019. My courses covered programming, data structures, systems, low-level TCP/IP, C++, and quantitative finance for undergraduate, graduate, and professional learners.
Teaching is closely related to engineering leadership: both require an accurate explanation, a useful next step, and enough patience to help someone develop their own judgment.
Working across the hardware boundary
At APIS Innovation, I worked part-time on an industrial landfill-monitoring platform. The work crossed embedded firmware, Zigbee and DigiMesh wireless networks, MQTT bridges, and a cloud monitoring and control portal.
Testing equipment at an operating landfill connected the software to the environment and the people who used it. Those experiences reinforced the value of clear interfaces and practical reliability.
